How It Works

Buyers can browse available horses by sections such as Roping Horses, Barrel Racing Horses, Cutting Horses, Ranch Horses, Racing Horses, and upcoming auction listings.

Each horse card gives a quick preview with image, breed, age, category, status, and starting bid. Buyers can click “Bid Now” or “More Information” to be taken directly to the full auction listing.

Once a buyer clicks into the auction site, they can register, review the full listing details, and place bids through the Southern Exchange auction platform.

Once an auction has ended, payment is handled through escrow. The buyer’s funds are held securely while Southern Exchange monitors the transaction between buyer and seller.

Funds are not released until the required proof of livestock transfer, sale confirmation, and agreed transaction steps are in place. This helps protect both sides and keeps the exchange organized from bidding through final transfer.

Southern Exchange helps sellers showcase their horses with professional listings, auction placement, category exposure, and promotion across our pages.

Southern Exchange helps promote your horse beyond just the auction listing. We create exposure through social media posts, marketplace promotion, videos, and paid ads designed to reach serious horse buyers.

We also post listings inside several horse marketplace groups and promote across our pages to help generate more visibility, more interest, and more qualified buyer traffic.

Our commission-based model means we do not get paid until your horse sells and you receive your money.

Our selling commission is 8% of the final horse sale price. This allows us to help manage the listing, promote the horse, and connect sellers with more buyers.

What is the Partner Barn Program? The Partner Barn Program gives barns, breeders, trainers, and horse programs their own branded horse sales page powered by Southern Exchange.

Do I get my own page? Yes. Each partner barn receives a branded profile page with their logo, banner, bio, website, social links, active horses, upcoming horses, and sold horses.

How does Southern Exchange get paid? Southern Exchange uses a net-to-seller model. You tell us the amount you want to receive. We add the agreed platform fee to the buyer's total price.

Do you take money from my sale price? No. If your approved net amount is $20,000, the goal is for you to receive $20,000. Southern Exchange adds its fee on top of that buyer total.

Who handles escrow? Southern Exchange helps coordinate the escrow and transaction process after the sale is locked in.

Can I upload my own horses? Yes. Partner barns can submit horses, photos, videos, descriptions, and sale details through their profile or admin area.

Do listings need approval? Yes. Every listing goes through Southern Exchange review before going live to make sure pricing, photos, auction links, and details are correct.

Can my horses appear on Southern Exchange too? Yes. Approved listings can appear on both your barn page and the main Southern Exchange marketplace.

Can I show sold horses? Yes. Sold horses help build trust and show buyers your program is active.

Can I include social media links? Yes. Your barn profile can include website, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, phone, and email.

Does the Bid Now button open the auction in a new tab? Yes. This keeps your barn page open while the buyer completes bidding on the auction page.

Southern Exchange was built to connect buyers and sellers of quality performance horses through one trusted modern marketplace. While many horse auctions focus only on local regions, Southern Exchange is designed to reach buyers and sellers across all of North America.

We help sellers advertise horses, create more exposure through social media marketing, videos, and online promotion, while bringing serious buyers into one professional auction platform.

Our goal is to modernize the horse auction industry by combining technology, marketing, and nationwide reach into one powerful platform built for today's horse market.
